renee diresta looked at stereotypes of american states using google autocomplete (e.g. why is montana so...) and created a series of wonderful maps visualizing the top four results for each state. sadly but not surprisingly, my homestate new jersey was treated unkindly (why is new jersey so bad, hated, expensive, corrupt). that having been said, most states were looked upon negatively. a few of the surprises for me:
